Volunteer for McCain Palin

It's coming down to the last weeks of the election. The best way to help the McCain/Palin ticket is to volunteer. Contact your local McCain Victory Office or make calls to battleground states from your home with the Online Phone Bank. This is the time that matters most. For Senator McCain to win the White House his campaign needs volunteers making phone calls and knocking on doors. Please take the time to make even just a few phone calls a day. From home or from a Victory Office please volunteer, and be a part of history.

Speak Out Against Media Bias

The McCain Palin 2008 blog is sponsoring a petition protesting media bias with the support of groups/sites across the political spectrum. While many have witnessed a decisive pro-Obama slant in this news reporting during this election, this bias became glaringly apparent when Governor Palin was selected as the vice-presidential nominee. Whether it is an organization like the New York Times having to retract stories about Governor Palin because they printed rumor and not fact; networks investigating the children of the Governor; or network pundits questioning the Governor's 'mothering' skills, this over-the-top behavior and blatant bias is unacceptable. With over 1200 people having already signed we urge all readers to speak out against an irresponsible media by signing the following petition.

CNN Spins Again

CNN Headline, "Rove: McCain Went To Far". Now for the reality. Rove said both campaigns were pushing their ads too far. Don't believe me, listen to the tape...

CNN apparently suffers from selective hearing as Karl Rove thought the lipstick remark was inappropriate and then he said both campaigns have taken their ads one step too far. However, CNN is only interested in the part of the statement that is critical of McCain. 'The Most Trusted Name in News?' Really?

McCain Up 4 in USA Today/Gallup Poll

Gallup/USA Today Poll: McCain +4

Republican presidential candidate John McCain moved from being behind by 6 points among "likely" voters a month ago to a 4-point lead over Democrat Barack Obama among that group in the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. McCain still trails slightly among the broader universe of "registered" voters. By both measures, the race is tight.

Apparenty no European vacation bounce for Obama. Issue wise McCain had a strong week even though media focused on the visuals that favored Obama. Could this be showing that Americans are paying more attention to substance than show?

Media Afraid to Report on Obama Biography

CBS News reports in its article End Of The Obama Affair reports that tensions are building among the Obama campaign and members of the media due to hyper-control of biographical and other information.

Reporters who have covered Obama's biography or his problems with certain voter blocs have been challenged the most aggressively. "They're terrified of people poking around Obama's life," one reporter says. "The whole Obama narrative is built around this narrative that Obama and David Axelrod built, and, like all stories, it's not entirely true. So they have to be protective of the crown jewels." Another reporter notes that, during the last year, Obama's old friends and Harvard classmates were requested not to talk to the press without permission.

This is what's troubling about Senator Obama, no on really knows who he is, and the media is partly to blame. Their job isn't to ogle the candidates it's to find out information, and most just aren't willing to do that. Many reports out this week show that the media is miffed that the McCain campaign called them on their Obama love fest. They routinely site that Senator McCain in 2000 jokingly referred to the media as his base as proof that they aren't bias. However, anyone with eyes and ears can tell that this year Obama is their paramour.

The problem with the obsession is that no one is reporting on facts and issues. Still no one has asked if Senator Obama believes in 'black liberation theology'. No one has asked why he has some many ties to shady people like William Ayers or Tony Rezco. No one asks why he hasn't conducted hearings on Afghanistan as committee chair. No one has asked him about the money directed to Reverend Pfleger's church while he was in the Illinois state Senate. These are fair questions for a presidential candidate, yet the media sits on its hands and belly-aches when anyone points out that they are not doing their job, and the public misses out on important information.

McCain Blogger Call

The first order of business with the blogger call was for Senator McCain to clear up questions that had popped up today about his support for Justice Alito. Senator McCain stated that, as he has said many times before, he strongly supported Justice Alito and would appoint judges in the future in the model of Justice Alito and Justice Roberts. He addressed the importance of the Florida primary and the endorsements he received from Governor Crist and Senator Martinez. He was questioned about the tone of the race in the last couple days and mentioned that he would be happy for people to judge his and Governor Romney’s record side by side, and said that he was aware of some of the robo-calls and negative attacks against him. He was very excited that President Bush is addressing fighting back earmarks in his State of the Union speech tonight. Also he addressed his ability to unite the party and draw in support from Independents and Moderates in the general election. The call was cut off abruptly, but it was an upbeat informative call.
